About Souther Whites American Bulldogs

Hi my name is Mario Pace from Southern White's Bulldogs and I would like to tell my story on how I discovered this magnificent Bulldog Breed.

As a young teenager overseas we always had dogs at home. The most impressive one was a Boxer Bitch witch was Brindle and White, she went everywhere with me. To the beach, on the farm and occasionally in town, but what I liked about her the most was that she was very protective of anyone, and that's what I really liked in a dog and still do today. That is how I ended up breeding American Bulldogs.

Years went past I left Europe and settled in Australia and about 10 years ago I had a so called friend of mine which imported these American Bulldogs into Australia. I was very impressed with the build and strength that you see in these dogs, and discovered there was a few types of bulldogs, but the most eye catching for me were the Johnson type.
After seeing them on video in America and reading about the breed I took my thoughts of that dog I had in Europe, which was very similar of a family protection dog, but with more muscle. It's amazing what these dogs can get up to with a bit of training, they're all heart and eager to please.

So I brought my first female American Bulldog Tosca, which I paid a lot more back then, then what they are worth today, but that's another story. I'll tell you a bit of history about Tosca. Tosca's father is Wheelers Buddy, Buddy is from Peelers Chief and Wheelers Miss Bully Deenine and her mothers is Cheetah, Cheetah is from Oscar and Nellie. As a pup I started taking her on camping trips and away with me. What I noticed that this breed is eager to please and is well behaved and also is very good with children. Another thing that I also noticed was when I took her out there was always other dogs that would bark or growl at her, but she always ignored them and never started any trouble, which is I thought she has a very good temperament. But with all my dogs and I'll name them later they all get along together and socialize as a team, and I believe they got this from Tosca being so patient. So then Tosca was bred to another American Bulldog named Tuggs, also named by that so called friend of mine, and she had four males and four females in that litter. The ones I kept for my breeding program are known today as Elwood, Ruby, Dixie and Elle. I sold one of the males (Jake) to a good friend of mine Frank, that runs a cattle farm at Merriwa. He was looking for a dog for his farm mostly for a yard dog. He rang me up one time, telling me what Jake done. Frank was trying to put one of his main Bulls in the main yard, but he wouldn't budge, Jake saw this and with no training at all, went up to the Bull started barking at it, head to head, and then out of the blue grabbed the Bull by it's nose. The Bull lifted Jake up into the air three times, then Jake let go, and followed the bull into its yard. Frank was amazed for a fithteen month old bulldog with no training to figure out what his owner was trying to do. So this explains that the American Bulldogs are eager to please their owners, in any situation that occurs. Frank keeps him fit, by running four kilometers a day behind his farm bike. Frank is extremely pleased to own one of these American Bulldogs.

So then the search was on to find a very good dog for my breeding program, I looked at importing a dog from the U.S.A., but then heard that a guy from Western Australia brought a dog in that was the son of Mullens Bubba, which is now called Manstoppers Bubba. If any one has seen this dog on video you'll know what I am talking about. The build and strength of this dog is absolutely amazing. And so I became the proud owner of Rosco. Out of the six dogs of mine, Rosco is the best built and genetically sound dog I own today. With a hip Dysplasia Evalution Report of Right Elbow being 0, Left Elbow being 0, Right Hip 5, and Left Hip 3. I am proud to use him as my stud dog at Southern White's.
With the pups you buy, you will have a written guarantee (as I discovered down the path of buying dogs from a so called friend of mine, that verbal guarantees means Bullshit), so at Southern White's we have a contract written up on hip scores not exceeding twenty points, and health in general. This insures the buyer that he or she, will be getting good quality American Bulldogs that they can enjoy for a long time without the costly headaches. My aim is not to breed quantity, but to breed good genetically quality sound dogs with temperament to match. All the pups born and even before birth, are subjected to noises, such as the radio going twenty-four hours a day, compressor, drop saw and other loud sounds, so that these pups when introduced to the world will not be skidish and frightened, and get a head start to noise out there.

For family protection, farmwork or just as a loyal companion I recommend considering one of these amazing American Bulldogs.
